Avoid extremes at all costs. Do not hold back useful information that can help others. And do not condemn others because they are lacking in certain ways that you seem to be better off. Knowledge should be shared. Mercy should be offered. When either of these is lacking, a community suffers. Jesus accuses the Jewish leaders of his time of killing the prophets and building their tombs. He also accused them of preventing others from acquiring knowledge about God. The implications of these are staggering. We can slip into pride and selfishness when we land in a place of authority and privilege. We begin to convince ourselves that we are better than others and that they are beneath us. The truth remains that we are all sinners in need of God’s mercy. Whatever gifts and goodness we enjoy are purely out of God’s mercy. We ought to extend the same mercy to our neighbour and never look down on or take advantage of them.

Look out for opportunities today to celebrate God’s mercy:

  • Correct others with love.

  • Be open to correction because you do not know everything.

  • Pray for persons you know are struggling with one vice or the other.

  • Live an exemplary life so that others can see the right way of doing things through your example.

  • Share the knowledge you possess to bridge the knowledge gap that exists in our culture. Thanks to social media, a lot more people can benefit from the things you take for granted.

  • Support those you see who are putting their gifts and talents to good use.

  • You are not always going to be on the scene or in the spotlight. Lift others, so that they remember you, and they become your legacy when you bow out.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.

Prayer:

  1. A blessed morning to you. I pray that you shall receive insight into God's mission for you today. Receive strength to accomplish your tasks. Receive grace to walk without stumbling. Receive favour and abundance from unexpected sources. May your faith open doors of favour to you today through Christ our Lord. Amen. God bless you abundantly.

  2. Eternal Father, doing what pleases you comes with its demands. Strengthen me when things get tough and help me to carry on each day with grace and courage. Amen.

TASK FOR THE DAY:

Pray for those seeking good, God-fearing spouses and fruitfulness in their marriage.
