Today’s Reading:
Jude 1: 17-25
“Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” (v. 21)
Apostle Jude in his address today reiterated that in the last times, there will be scoffers who will follow their ungodly desires. They are people who cause division, follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. To have ungodly desires, cause division and follow mere natural instincts show a life outside the love of God. No man who is genuinely saved will ever find solace in these things. Knowing full well that a believer is one whose desires must gravitate towards God and being led by the Spirit.
If you will not however step outside doing God’s will and being led by His Spirit, it then mean that you must let the love of God be the compass of your life. A deep knowing of God’s love will enables you to walk with Him aright. Jesus said to the disciples, “If you love me, you will keep my commandment.” When your heart is filled with the love of God, your desires will be towards his plan and purpose for your existence. It will suggest what you are meant to do and not what to do.
While you keep yourself in God’s love you, must continually build yourself up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Ghost (that is according to the leading of the Spirit. This will fortify and renew your daily commitment for God. And the hallmark of being kept in God’s love is what verse 22 emphasized, “be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire- hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” If your heart burns to have men saved, you are causing a great celebration in heaven which proof how much of God’s love has been robbed on you. It is only in God’s love that you are secured.
