Today’s Reading:

Luke 22: 1-13

“He replied, “As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him.” (Luke 22:10 NLT)

The people you meet in life and their contribution to your journey will either make or mar you. When a patient meets the wrong doctor, it might lead to death. When a passenger enters the wrong bus, such a person may not land safely. Life is a journey, and the people we meet from time to time will determine how enjoyable or otherwise the journey will be. Having potential, sound academic skills, wonderful business acumen and outstanding knowledge in your field or career are not enough to take you to the apogee in life except you meet the right people who are willing to help you harness your potential for greater profitability. These kinds of people are called destiny helpers. When you meet them, your journey will be short, stress-free and successful. But when you miss them, life will be a mirage instead of a miracle. No one in life can amount to anything substantial without these helpers, and they come at every point or junction in life.

Jesus’ earthly ministry was coming to an end gradually, and there was a need for him to eat the last supper with his disciples. His ministry will not be complete without this event. Jesus sent two of his disciples with this instruction: ‘You will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water, follow him’. During that period, it was very uncommon to see men carrying pitchers of water; it was only common among women, but Jesus said it was a man. One, if they meet two different men carrying pitchers, they must be able to decipher the actual man they must follow. If they follow the wrong man, it means that the purpose for which he sent them will be forfeited and efforts jeopardised. Also, if they miss the man, that will be a double tragedy. It is the meeting of that man carrying a pitcher or jug of water that will lead them to the owner of the house, where the feast will be prepared.

Have you met the man with the pitcher? The man with the pitcher is that man (generic, of course) who will give you that idea that will launch you into purpose. The man with the pitcher is the individual who will not rest and will continue to render help until you break even in life. The man with the pitcher is the person who will not stop praying for you until the pregnancy of good things you carry is delivered safely. It is that individual who will mention your name at the Palace for placement. That person who will always ask you if you have started that project and will not be tired until you start, and he will also monitor till completion. That person who will put his life on the line for you to make it. If you miss him, your journey will be a mess, and what is supposed to take you a year might take you years of labour, yet without result. If there is one powerful prayer point you need to pray, it is that you will not miss the man with the pitcher of water. Rather, you will meet him or her in good time, and the divine purpose for your existence shall be established.

JAMES ALADE

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer

  1. Power that wants me to miss the man with the pitcher of water, you are a lie, die without remedy in Jesus’ name.

  2. My destiny helpers locate me by fire in Jesus’ name.

  3. Household enemies blocking me from meeting the man with the jar of water, be disgraced speedily in Jesus’ name.

  4. Powers putting my helpers into bondage, be roasted by fire in Jesus’ name.

  5. Divine arrangement that will bring me in contact with the man carrying the pitcher, let it happen in Jesus’ name.
