IF I FORGET YOU, KILL ME

Today’s Reading:
Psalms 137
“If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, let my fingers wither and fall off like leaves. Let my tongue swell and turn black if I fail to remember you, if I fail, O dear Jerusalem, to honour you as my greatest.”
(Psalm 137:6)

“If l forget God, whether in adversity or prosperity, let Him kill me.” Cut me off and let me not be remembered if l abandon you to run after other gods. No matter how sick l am, even if l am unconscious, l must never be taken to an herbalist. If in my unconscious state, people decide to take me there, kill me before l get there. Can you boldly say the statement above with every breath of your life? Have you walked with God to a level that you put a curse on yourself that if you go back, God should kill you? I worked with a Reverend Professor as an associate pastor while at Ile-Ife in Osun State, Nigeria. One of the statements he made when he was given a job as a lecturer is that any day he slept with any girl on campus, God should kill him. This statement helped him, and to the glory of God, as I write this piece, he has just two years to retire, and he is still standing for God.
The Israelites in the passage above made a similar declaration that if they forget Jerusalem (which represents the city of God), their fingers should wither and tongues cleave to their mouth. Walking with God is not child’s play. It is a serious matter. When will you come off the life of flirting and romancing with sin, and yet you claim you belong to God? Are we going to the same heaven with Joseph who flew at the sight of Mrs Potiphar? Are we aiming for the same rewards with Esther despite being an orphan, yet she kept her virginity? Do you expect to have the same place in heaven as the Apostles, who never counted their lives to be precious to them?
Since you relocated, your consecration has been contaminated. Is the God of the UK, USA, Canada or any country you are in, different from the God of Africa? With just a small change, your language has changed. Who bewitched you? Even in your present adversity, do you still recognise God as the only one true God? God is calling back today. Come back to your senses before it is too late. Do not just read and walk away, God is talking to you, l mean to you now. Close your eyes and talk to your Creator now, not tomorrow, stop whatever you are doing and amend your ways. The next minutes may not be your own. Cry if you need to cry, he is your Father.....
JAMES ALADE
To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”
If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.
Prayer:
Father, l come before you now, have mercy upon me, in the name of Jesus.
Take me out of the dungeon of sin today, Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Break every yoke of sin in my life, in the name of Jesus
I rededicate my life today, Father, accept me again, in Jesus’ name.
