Faith is beautiful. It is the bedrock of a meaningful relationship with God. If faith is a tree, then divine blessings are its fruits. Doubt is unflattering. It betrays a lack of trust in God.
What is faith?
Faith is to desire God's glory.
To reverence God's holiness.
To admire God's greatness.
To praise God's power.
To seek God's truth.
To esteem God's wisdom.
To treasure divine beauty.
To taste God's goodness.
To trust in God's faithfulness.
To obey God's commandments.
To respect God's justice.
To fear divine judgment.
To cherish divine grace.
To prize God's presence, and
To love the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Saint James describes the kind of faith we should have:
"If there is any one of you who needs wisdom, he must ask God, who gives to all freely and ungrudgingly. But he must ask with faith, and no trace of doubt, because a person who has doubts is like the waves thrown up in the sea when the wind drives. That sort of person, in two minds, must not expect that the Lord will give him anything" (James 1:5-9).
A faithful person is wise because He admits his need of God and disposes himself to receive help. Doubt is the failure to admit one's need for divine assistance. This leads us to demand signs just like the Pharisees who wanted to test Jesus. No sign is given to those who doubt because Jesus Himself is the answer they need. Jesus is everything you need.
What are you currently going through? Is it issues with your marriage, your relationship, death in your family, failing health or your finances? Is your situation leading you to faith or causing you to doubt? The weight of your problem might be difficult for you to carry but it is nothing in the sight of God. Cast your cares on Him today and believe that He will take care of you (1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 55:22).
