Fear is the most potent weapon in the devil’s armoury. This is why over 300 times in the Scriptures, we are reminded “Fear Not”.  Jesus reminds his apostles that they are more valuable to him than countless other creatures and no evil will befall anyone who trusts Him (Matthew 10:31).  Joseph reassures his brothers after Jacob’s death that he has no evil plans against them because God turned their evil plan to good for his life (Genesis 50:19).

Here is why you should never be ruled by fear:

  • Fear amplifies the faults of others while neglecting the bigger picture of God’s providence.

  • In fear, we put ourselves in the place of God and wish evil on those who have hurt us.

  • Fear prevents us from doing what lies in our power because of the perceived strength of the evil one.

  • Fear makes us cowardly in situations where we should be bold, prayerful and outspoken about our faith in God.

  • Fear can lock you up in unforgiveness over the mistakes and malice of others.

  • Fear can make you selfish and inconsiderate, where you need to trust in divine providence.

  • Fear can lead you to actively plot the harm of perceived enemies—making you exactly like those you accuse of evil.

In place of fear, allow courage to guide you:

  • Courage prompts you to reassure those who have hurt you that God’s plan supersedes every malice.

  • Courage helps you forgive others for their wrongs and actively support them.

  • Courage makes you bold in the face of opposition to your beliefs and arms you to answer those who question your faith (1 Peter 3:15).

  • Courage helps us unite our will with God as we go through each day.

  • Courage helps us to rise every time we fall away through sin.

  • Courage helps us to see that God defends us and will turn every evil plan to our good.

  • Courage helps us turn to God in prayer and seek His face when times become hard and consolation seems far.

  • Courage helps us to rejoice even in the midst of suffering, knowing that evil shall never have the last word.

Never be carried away by tales of malice and violence, secret plots and evil intentions. God’s plan for your life is far superior to all the evil in the world combined. Rest in the knowledge that he turned the evil plans of Jacob’s son against Joseph to succour for their hunger and suffering. He turned the evil plans of the Jewish leaders against Jesus into the salvation of the whole world. He will turn every plan over your life to triumph if you remain faithful and true.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Eternal Father, turn every evil plan against my life into goodness. May I never give in to fear but remain steadfast through prayer and trust in Your providence, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  2. Eternal Father, turn every evil plan against my life into goodness. May I never give in to fear but remain steadfast through prayer and trust in Your providence, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
