Sainthood is the vocation of all and not the privilege of a few. You and I are saints in the making. We were once slaves to sin. But in Baptism, we have been redeemed by the Blood of Christ, washed clean of original sin, strengthened by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit and given a new mission.

What is this mission?

We must use the same energy we once used to promote the kingdom of darkness, to spread the message of peace, love and hope. Use the same body which you have made an object of sin, to spread the message of holiness. Use your time, talents and treasures to think of creative ways of making Christ known and loved. This is the most important project of your life. Living for the world alone is a futile mission because all of it will end here on earth. Living each day in the hope of resurrection and eternal joy is the crowning jewel of your existence.

What help do you need to achieve this?

God anticipates us with grace. He offers us His Body and Blood in the Eucharist. He restores us to ra ight relationship with Him in Confession. He strengthens us with the power of the Spirit in Confirmation. Left to ourselves, we cannot achieve anything good. But with the superadded incentive of divine grace, we can observe our culture, note the things that are lacking and supply them creatively and in a way that glorifies God. Never allow yourself to be used as an object to promote evil. So long as your name is associated with any project, you will reap its fruits, whether good or bad.

You can be a real-life superhero like the saints. Saint John Paul II is remembered for making holiness fashionable by how he lived and embodied the mission of Christ. When an assassination attempt was carried out on his life, he responded by forgiving his enemy. Nothing is more powerful than mercy shown to an enemy. Who do you need to forgive today? What has God placed in your heart to do for Him? Break away from any sinful cabal or immoral horde that is keeping you enslaved. Do not be afraid to break free. God will surely secure you. Let your life count for something good. Place it in the hands of God. It is from Him that your help will come.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth. Lord, I consecrate my mind, soul and body to You.

  2. Once more, I rededicate my whole being to You. Help me never to lend myself to the works of iniquity.

  3. Help me to serve you with my time, talents and treasures and take care of me and keep me safe for eternal life. Amen.

TASK FOR THE DAY:

Pray for those who use social media to spread misinformation, prejudice and promote the wrong values.
