Today’s Reading:

Revelation 3: 14- 22

“I know your works. You are neither cold with apathy nor hot with passion. It would be better if you were one or the other, but you are neither. So because you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.“ (Revelation 3:15-16)

The message of these verses was words of Jesus sent to the seven churches in Laodicea. Laodicea was a wealthy city known for its material prosperity, but it lacked a water source of its own, relying on aqueducts that delivered lukewarm water. Jesus used this as a metaphor for their spiritual condition.

Lukewarmness refers to a state of spiritual indifference, apathy, or complacency — being neither fully committed to God nor openly rejecting Him. It is a state of appearing to be holy on the outside but rotten on the inside. Praying and committed to God in the morning but rejecting Him at night, worshipping God in daylight but in the dark, eating with the devil. This is unconsciously done by so many who claim to be Christians today.  Lukewarm means being spiritually indifferent — claiming faith but lacking conviction, commitment, or transformation. It is a state of spiritual deception. The spiritual life of a man is not measured by how many hours he led public prayer but by how many hours he prayed in secret. The state of reading and studying the scripture only to preach and not for personal spiritual growth is a state of deception, which is lukewarmness.

Where is the passion, zeal and fervency of those days when you first gave your life to Christ? When you notice the following in your life, they are signs of lukewarmness. When your heart is cold to evangelism, prayer and Bible study. When you find it difficult to speak up against sin. When you appreciate sinful acts and never warn sinners of impending dangers. When you are living in Old Glory. God used to speak to you before, but now, the story is Ichabod. God says...’ has never left your mouth, Man of God, but you know that the Holy Spirit has deserted you for long’. How long will you cover up your spiritual laxity, complacency, stagnancy, lethargy and slothfulness? The scriptures say in Romans 12:11; not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Arise from your slumber, even if one of your spiritual eyes has been plucked off like that of Samson, you can still bounce back; your father is waiting for you. He’s still in the ministry of restoring His children. Don’t delay, abandon all that you are doing now, and take that step now. Go on your knees now and ask Him to visit you and revive you again. Do you need to talk to someone, then call the number below or reach out through the mail...

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully seek out a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor, or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Spirit of lukewarmness, your time is up in my life. Get out by fire in Jesus’ name.

  2. I receive all that l have lost spiritually in Jesus’ name.

  3. Powers stealing from me, die in Jesus’ name.

  4. I rise from my spiritual slumber in Jesus’ name.
