Today’s Reading:
Psalm 119:49-56 KJV
“Remember the word unto thy servant, Upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: For thy word hath quickened me.” (v. 49-50 KJV)
The psalmist, in the above passage, is calling on God to remember His word to him, for which he has put his hope. It is the word God has spoken to him that gives him comfort even in the face of affliction. Romans 10 vs 17 says that faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God.
There are various ways God speaks to His people. Some of them are as follows:
Through reading the Bible
Through audible voice
Through a preacher or pastor
Through prophetic utterances
Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
No matter the means through which God speaks to you, it is important for you to know and recognize that it is God speaking to you. One key way of recognizing that the voice you are hearing is the voice of God is that what you hear will be backed up by scripture.
If the word God has given you has a time-line, at the fullness of that time, pray for it to come to pass like Daniel did (Daniel 9). You do not keep quiet and go to sleep. This is your comfort in your affliction because you know that God will come through for you. Don't give up, don't lose hope, keep reminding God.
