Acts 5:34-42
Psalm 27:1,4,13-14
John 6:1-15

Christianity grows through persecution. This has always been the case. Just as the Apostles were flogged by the Jewish leaders for preaching the Resurrection of Christ, St Athanasius of Alexandria was exiled for a combined 17 years for defending the divinity of Christ against Arianism. Arianism taught that the Son was created by the Father and in no way equal to him. The greatest enemy of the faith is convenience; our desire for ease and comfort in exchange for following Christ.
Today, Christian Churches are vandalised all around the world. Christians are targeted and killed, violence against the church is underreported in the media, and most Christians are trapped in their addiction to their mobile devices and are morally indifferent. Would you say that the devil is winning the war on our souls? Well, so long as you read this and see that you have a role to play in furthering Christ’s work of Salvation, all hope is not lost. Five barley loaves and two fish were what a little boy had to offer for Jesus to feed five thousand men. What are your five loaves and two fish? What is your excuse for not sharing them?
In a world where people would rather be indifferent, you should:
Live boldly.
Be fearless. Do not be ruled by fear.
Frequent the Sacraments of Confession and Communion.
Let your aura, speech and actions be infectious with grace and love.
Choose to please God and not people.
Prepare for opposition and persecution.
Pray for sinners and pray for the virtue of perseverance.
Love God and love others as you love yourself.
Pray to have true friends who lead you to Christ.
John 2:5, where Mary says to the servants at the wedding in Cana, “Do whatever He tells you”.
Pray for the virtue of obedience to God through those in authority.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”
If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome to the body of Christ. Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, you are my light and my help; whom shall I fear? You are the stronghold of my life; before whom shall I shrink? Renew my faith, strengthen my hope and deepen my love for You. Amen.
Eternal Father, I entrust my days, weeks, months and all my life to You. Give me the strength to walk through dark days, grace to enjoy joyful days and peace and calm in the storm through Christ our Lord. Amen.
