Today’s Reading:
John 21:1-14
“Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some” (v.6)
Simon Peter and other disciples decided to go fishing, and having worked all night they caught nothing. In the morning Jesus came to them and asked if they have any fish and they said no. He said to them, cast you net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. They obeyed and miracle happened there.
The boat can be an analogy for where we are in our lives today. The left-hand side could be everything in our lives that has led up to today i.e. our past. All our disappointments, our good decisions and our not-so-good decisions, the times we felt unloved, the times we felt loved but not in the way we wanted to be loved, our successes, our failures and our feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. The way we lived through using habits and patterns we hadn’t thought about... where we just carried on the same old – same old... just like the disciples carried on fishing the way they always had – the same-old-same-old way. The right-hand side of the boat could be the future where we decide to invite, obey and experience the fullness of Jesus Christ in our lives.
Just as Jesus Christ appeared to the disciples and told them to forget about their past and focus on their future, He is also talking to you now. You might have given your life to Him in the past and backslid; He is still calling you to look at the right-hand side. Maybe you have just been living your life the way you wanted. He wants to direct, guide and control the affairs of your life. He wants to give you rest over all your unprofitable and unfruitful labour (Matthew 11:28).
Perhaps, you may want to think about inviting Jesus Christ into your life. Really – it’s about learning how to live with Jesus Christ in your life. Take a quiet moment to think about these things knowing that Jesus just quietly waits for us – loving us – ready to forgive us. All you have to do is ask for his forgiveness and love as you embrace Him and decide to move from the left-hand side of the boat to the right-hand side of the boat inviting Jesus to come into your heart.

PRAYER:
Today, I move from the left-hand side to the right-hand side of my boat in Jesus name. Amen
I refuse to go back to my failures, hopelessness, disappointment, unfruitful life of the past. I refuse to backslide in Jesus name.
I receive the power and grace of God to surrender my all for direction, guidance, and total control of Jesus Christ
I remove every power that makes us to labour very hard without any fruit to show for it in this Country- Nigeria in the powerful name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, all the Church Leaders that have gone astray looking for their personal needs rather than fishing for men, please Lord appear unto them and change their hearts in Jesus name.
