Today’s Reading:
Psalms 6:1-10
"The Lord has herd my plea, the Lord will answer my prayer" (v. 9 NLT)
Assurance is defined as the confidence of mind or manner; easy freedom from self-doubt or uncertainty. It is the confidence that the unfailing God will bring to pass every of His good promises for your life notwithstanding your present circumstances. Assurance is the ability to put your trust and confidence in God's faithfulness even when life seems not to smile at you.
The Psalmist in today's text is a clear evidence of a man with full assurance on the living God. In spite of his unpleasant situation, he humbly realizes his predicament as result of sin (v. 2); he expresses sorrow over it and demonstrates a fresh commitment to remain close to God (v.4). David had no doubt that his petitions have been answered. He had an unshaken faith on the merciful God who will always be willing to listen to the cry of His children whenever they call on Him. What a great faith that is required of contemporary Christians!
No believer is immune to error. However, when it happens you must dialogue with God in prayer with a repentant heart and full assurance that you have been pardoned. The assurance that God answers prayer will awaken believer’s consciousness to hold on to God and trust Him for victory even when it seems there is no solution in sight (v. 8, 9; Jeremiah 33:3). Do not allow the current challenging situation to weaken your faith to doubt God or challenge the potency of His power. It may seem as if your prayers have not been answered. Remember God makes everything beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Have faith in Him and not too long from now you will experience His intervention.
