Today’s Readings:

Deuteronomy 28:1

Daniel 1:17-21; 6:3;

1 Corinthians 1; 1 Thess 2:10-12

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the world.” (Deut. 28:1 NKJV)

“Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him above the whole realm.” (Daniel 6:3 NKJV)

“As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the Chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. Then the king interviewed them, and among them all, none was found like Daniel, Hanaziah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore, they served before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding above which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. Thus, Daniel continued until the first year of King Cyrus.” (Daniel 1:17-21 NKJV)

In most religious and spiritual frameworks, the wisdom of God is the reflective understanding, knowledge, and ability to guide and direct all things, usually connected to a source of divine guidance and insight. The wisdom of God is regarded as a gift or one of the attributes we share with God. And it defines God’s very being in man.  There are some facts about the wisdom of God, among which are:

  • The wisdom of God is the Word of God (Ps. 119), the understanding, the knowledge, and revelation of God from the beginning to the end is the mystery of God in Jesus Christ.

  • The wisdom of this world will keep you further and further away from the mysterious Wisdom of God - Our Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, Wonderful Counsellor, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

  • The Wisdom of God is real, genuine, authentic, and superior to the wisdom of the world system;

  • Like chaff is separated from wheat before it becomes useful, the wisdom of God must be carefully separated from the world before we can benefit from its usefulness.

  • The wisdom of God can lie dormant within us if not quickened by the enablement of the Holy Spirit when we observe and obey God’s laws.

  • The wisdom of this world system is only for this world, which is enmity with God.

Further reading into today’s text, it was during the reign of King Darius when Daniel, one of the exiles, at 80 years old, was one of the three top administrators among those who did not believe in the God of Israel. But his efficient hard work, diligence and capability distinguished him from all others. By this, he attracted the attention of the pagan king, and this earned him a place of honour and respect. One of the best ways to be influential as an ambassador of Christ is to be diligent and responsible in whatever we find to do - in speech, in thought, and deeds. We must be aware of the fact that when we desire and are committed to efficient hard work, being diligent, and a willing tool in the hands of the Holy Spirit, and we are excelling, this will attract enemies who will take every opportunity to pull down and destroy us. One can handle this situation by going the extra mile to operate above reproach. Have no sin or fault to hide so that the enemies would not find a legal foothold to charge accusations against us. These qualities alone cannot save us from the attacks of the enemy.  Like Daniel, we must solely rely on the strength, might, power, help, and authority of Christ, that the Holy Spirit supplies, for God’s protection.

The wisdom of God comes in a package which attracts outrageous blessings, but with a condition of obedience to His laws (Deut. 28:1). God is merciful and does certain things for us that we do not deserve. Even in our mischievous behaviours, we still receive the mercy and favour of God. Be diligent in your walk with God and your relationship with others. God is excellent and has called us to be excellent in the decisions we make, which means we have to work harder and strive to do what is pleasing to God. I charge you today to always be diligent and pursue excellence.

Please prayerfully read, study, and memorise Psalm 20. God bless you!

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer out loud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! You are welcome into the body of Christ. Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. O Lord my God, I will bless You at all times, your praise shall continually be in my mouth. It shall make its boast of you, O Lord, and the humble heart shall be glad.

  2. O, magnify the Lord with me, and let us together exalt His holy name.

  3. Day by day, dear Lord, of Thee three things I pray: to see Thee more clearly, love Thee more dearly and follow Thee more nearly day by day.

  4. Lord, empower me to diligently listen to Your voice and write Your word in my heart to obey it.  Thereby, I will have peace, and good will continually flow into my life in Jesus’ name.

  5. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I return to the Almighty.  I am built up and I remove iniquity far from my tabernacle, in Jesus’ name.

  6. Where the voice of the king is, there is power (Eccl. 8:4). Lord, clothe my tongue with your power in Jesus’ name.

  7. Lord, show me and my family the path of life, in Jesus’ name.

  8. Lord, lift me above the works of the enemy, in Jesus’ name.

  9. Visit our children, adolescents, young adults and old adults with your mercy.  Teach them and keep them under your watchful eyes, encouraging them in Jesus’ name.

  10. Lord, lift those diligently seeking your face above the decay and confusion of the world, in Jesus’ name.
