Today’s Reading:
Proverbs 1:20-33
"But whoever hearkens to me will dwell safely and will be secure from fear of evil." (Proverbs 1:33)
Happy New Year to you once again. I am sure this is not the first time you have heard that statement. It is more of a song on the lips of everyone when another year starts. But is the year new? What is new about the year? Still the same months, weeks, days, hours, and seconds. The year will be new if you do something different and resourceful compared to that of last year. But if you continue with the same pattern you have been doing things then permit me to say happy old year. It is only a fool that will do the same thing the same way and expect different results. If you want your year to be new then you need to embrace a new way and method of doing things. And one surest way to experience newness can be found in no other person but in WISDOM. In the passage above, wisdom is personified. Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge.
Knowledge is good but wisdom is far better. Wisdom is like a solution to a difficult riddle. The scripture says wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom. If there is one thing you need to pursue as you journey in this year 2024, it is wisdom. You need wisdom in every aspect of your life to navigate through and be successful. This wisdom I am talking about is not that of the world which is earthly, sensual, and demonic but rather one that is pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy, and produces good fruits without partiality and hypocrisy (James 3:15-17).
You can’t risk journeying this year without wisdom or else you may walk and work without something tangible to point at, at the end of the year. Jesus is the wisdom of God and without Him; the journey of this year will be futile and frustrating. Do the following as you journey this year:
Have a solid and unbroken relationship with Jesus
Read your bible daily. Take a chapter of the Book of Proverbs as a daily capsule to get wisdom.
Be prayerful
Keep company with godly friends
As you walk with wisdom (Jesus), he will guide and guard you on the journey of this year and beyond.

Father, I thank you for bringing me and my family into the year 2024.
May I not walk without You this year in Jesus' name.
I receive grace to do all that You will ask me to do as I journey through life, in Jesus' name.
Without you Lord, I will remain a fool; May Your presence not depart from me and my generation, in Jesus' name.
