John 10:11-18

Married couples who have faithfully lived together for years begin to pick up mannerisms from each other and use the same speech patterns. When we have been faithful followers of Christ, the Good Shepherd, we too take up His manner of acting and His way of speaking. In the gospel today, Jesus proclaims that “I am the Good Shepherd” and “I know mine and mine know me.” To know Jesus is to be one with him. This means that we are not only sheep who hear our Good Shepherd’s voice and come to know Him, but we also are to become good shepherds ourselves.
How do we become good shepherds? It is by laying down our lives for each other (this phrase appears five times in today's Gospel). In practical terms, it entails the following:
Giving a first place to our relationship with God.
Avoiding the occasions of sin as much as possible.
Caring for the sick.
Forgiving those who wrong us.
Giving thanks and praise to God for what He has done.
Loving others as God has loved us (unconditionally).
Giving good example to others by our way of life.
Chastity and faithfulness in our relationships.
Respect for others and not ruin their good name.
Service to our families by our work and our presence in the home.
Trust and obedience to our spouse and our parents
By being a good shepherd where God has placed you, may God grant you grace and an abundance of His favour through Christ our Lord.
JUDE-MARY OWOH
To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against you. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank You, Lord.”
If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend priest or pastor.
Prayer:
May God bless us as we play our part to inspire and lead others to Jesus our Good Shepherd, in Jesus' name.
May God continue to bless us as we contribute our widow’s mite to the missions so that the message of Christ will reach the ends of the earth, in Jesus name
We will never lose our eternal reward in Jesus’ name. Amen.
As our life shines before others in the image of Christ, May His grace and favour accompany us in all that we do through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
