Today’s Reading:
I Corinthians 10:12 – 17

1. Temptation is common that is, it is an everyday experience. We should not suppose that temptation in itself is a sign of spiritual weakness:
It is only weakness if we give in readily to it! the word temptation has two meanings in the New Testament: First, it means inciting us to do wrong; secondly, it means putting someone to the test (to see what they are made of!). God never tempts us (in the first sense, James 1:13); but he does put us to the test (the second sense).
2. God is actually the one who fights on our side against temptation:
He wants us not to succumb and so He gives us the strength to endure.
3. Never play around with temptation:
Worship of idols (vs 14) might be thought harmless nonsense since we know that idols do not really exist. But beware; playing with nonsense, flirting with evil, toying with temptation may start off as harmless enough but it can quickly lead to serious and sinister consequences.
Temptation can come in any way or form, it is a fire in disguise, don’t toy with it, “ keep Away is the Advice. God bless you.
