NOTHING FRUSTRATES US MORE than failure to get answers. We are hard-wired for results. Somewhere in our brains, we have a reward system that is restless until it is satisfied. Strangely though, some people make no effort and still want results. Others want a “Mumu-button” that they can press any time and get results. Prayer is none of these.
THE TIPS BELOW will broaden your mind about the nature of prayer and what we do every time we decide to pray:
KNOW GOD’S WORD – Prayer begins with listening as God speaks through His Word in Scripture. Make out time to read portions of it daily. That way you know God’s plans for you and you can share your thoughts about these plans with Him in prayer.
GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY – God is on your side and you can trust Him. If you pray for something and do not receive it, presume that God has a better plan in mind. Ask Him to reveal His will for you.
THERE IS NO ONE ELSE BUT HIM – When you come to God, be determined to stay with Him. If you stay with God through good and bad times, you will learn an indispensable tool for making your other relationships work.
KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET – Speak simply. The length of your prayer does not translate to praying better. Keep your prayers short and sweet. God already knows what you need. Remain in His presence.
ASK GOD TO COME TO YOU – Through Prayer, we invite Christ into our lives. We gradually begin to embody the things we pray for and also reach others for Christ.
PRAY TO BECOME LIKE GOD – Holiness is how we resemble God. It is impossible to pray well and not become holy. If you are not giving up sin and striving to be better, then you are not praying well.
HAVE YOUR WAY, LORD – In this relationship with God, you must trust that God knows your needs, your plans, your pains and your desires better than you.
"URGENT 2K" – God is more than an emergency fund. He is the Giver of all good things. Ask good things from God because He wants to give them to you. He wants to give them to you because you are worthy of them.
FORGIVE AND RECEIVE – God’s kingdom is present when we treat others better than they deserve. Forgiveness is the way we show gratitude for God’s goodness and love for us.
STRENGTH TO STAND – God will give you the strength you need to overcome slavery to sinful habits. Identify the sources of sin in your life and present them to God.
PROTECTION FROM EVIL – Desire nothing which is evil and the evil one will have no power over you.

Prayer:
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness.
Thank You for endowing us with Your spiritual gifts, in Jesus name.
The Lord is the strength of my life, in Jesus name.
O Lord, I place myself into Your hands; take control of my life, in Jesus’ name.
Create in me a pure heart, renew a right, teachable, and humble spirit in me, in Jesus name.
Lord give me a heart to love you and my neighbours as myself, in Jesus name.
Father, visit your Church afresh with your mercy and love, in Jesus name.
Father, let your mercy and love flow freely in our nation, in Jesus name. Amen.
