Today’s Reading:

1 Samuel 2:27-36

In the above account, God spoke through His servant to Eli concerning the end of his (Eli) priesthood. Eli was high priest at that time, and it was him that put the final sealing prayers on Hannah before she conceived and bore Samuel. However, his sons, Hophni and Phinehas, who the Bible described as sons of Belial, defiled the temple by committing fornication there. They also treated offerings made by the people with levity and thus contravening the law. This made God pronounce a curse on Eli and his lineage. God then made that z expression " I will honour them that honour Me, they that dishonour me shall be lightly esteemed ". Eli did restrain his children's behaviour thereby making God to change His mind about giving Eli's lineage an everlasting priesthood.

Today, many Christians are behaving like Eli in the way they dishonour God.

  1. By deliberately and without remorse come late to church. If the governor of Lagos State gave them an appointment for, say, 8.00 am. Will they come late?

  2. Refusal to pay tithe and give offerings

  3. Putting in the offering bag, Naira notes that even bus conductors will not accept. Malachi 1 vs 6-8.

  4. Fornication and adultery among Christians and ministers of God.

  5. Critising and running down servants of God on social media, or even forwarding such posts on social media. Romans 14 vs 4 , asks the question, "who are you to judge another man's servant ".

So many Christians blessings have been put on hold or outrightly cancelled as a result of some of the sins mentioned above. Today, you need to take a step back and ask yourself "where am I dishonouring God" ? In His mercy, He will reveal it to you. Remember God will not lower His standard for anyone.

1. Praise ye the Lord, Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power, in Jesus name.

2. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness, in Jesus name.

3. Father forgive me in any way I have dishonoured You, in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, restore to me my original blessings, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father I plead for Your mercy over my life and family, in the name of Jesus.

6. O Lord forgive the Church for the way we have dishonoured Your Name, in the name of Jesus.

7. O Lord restore back to the Church her lost glory, in the name of Jesus
