WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS?

Today’s Readings:

Isaiah 1:10-17

Psalm 50:8-23

Matthew 10:34-11:1

Every serious relationship has guiding rules and set boundaries. An undefined relationship is destined for failure and heartbreak. What is your relationship status with God? He tells us what He desires in a relationship. These rules should be the model for your relationship with others, irrespective of your position and state in the Church and in society:

  • Love for life (from conception to natural death) and hatred of bloodshed.

  • Love for holiness and hatred of sin in any form or shape.

  • Mutual respect (never take the other person for granted).

  • Love for God's commandments and hatred for stubbornness and rebellion.

  • Quickly repent of your sins and do not dwell in or justify evil.

  • Goodness to everyone regardless of status and class.

  • Justice (give everyone what they deserve).

  • Lift the oppressed and console the afflicted and marginalised.

  • Protect the defenceless.

  • Provide for the needy and underprivileged.

  • A Prayerful life should be evident in your choices and decisions.

  • Be thankful always.

  • Be upright and not a liar or a hypocrite.

  • Prefer to please God over family, friends and close acquaintances.

  • Carry the crosses, burdens and trials which God sends your way with patience and trust in His divine plan.

  • Offer your life in service to others and let your first thought be the value and usefulness of your actions to others (not the profit you hope to make).

  • Generosity towards good causes and the spread of the Faith is inestimable in the eyes of God.

These are the elements of your faith which will draw you closer to God, shelter you from evil, deliver you from harmful relationships, prosper you in times of adversity and secure your eternal reward.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Lord, deliver me from false religion and selfishness.

  2. Lord, deliver me from evil company and bad friendships.

  3. Lord, heal me of self-inflicted wounds of unforgiveness and hatred.

  4. Lord, grant me the grace to listen and obey Your commands.

  5. Lord, fill me with the presence of the Holy Spirit that I may be truly wise.

  6. Lord, may I never submit my mind or body to sin.

  7. Lord, may I never dishonour You by giving a bad example or wrong advice.

  8. Lord, may I honour you in all my relationships and interactions. Amen.

  9. May your relationship with God colour and elevate your relationships and interactions and bring you favour and testimonies through Christ our Lord. Amen.
