WHAT GOD HATES CAN HINDER YOU.

Today’s Reading:

Proverbs 6:16-19 KJV

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.                        (vv. 16-19  )

From the scripture above  7 things are listed as things that God hates. The scripture goes further to say that they are an abomination to Him. The 2 words "hate and abomination " are very strong words. These are not words that are used lightly. So, if God says that something is an abomination to Him, you need to sit up and pay attention to those things.

An abomination is something that is exceptionally loathsome,  hateful, sinful, wicked or vile.

We will look at those seven things in detail.

  1. A proud look. This implies a feeling of superiority complex. Always wanting to be noticed and given special attention. James 4:6 says that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

  2. A lying tongue. Telling lies has now gone digital. In this day of internet and social media, people now lie with impunity. Revelations 21 vs 8 says inter alia that all liars will end up in hellfire. Half a truth is still a lie.

  3. Hands that shed innocent blood. This category includes those who commit abortion, rape, murder, assassination and armed robbery.

  4. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations. In Zechariah 8:17, God says He hates evil imaginations against others.

  5. Feet that be swift to running to mischief. Mischief is a behaviour that annoys others.  It is a tendency to play pranks or cause embarrassment to someone.  It is commonplace to see embarrassing posts about people on social media. Please stop it if you are guilty of this.

  6. A false witness that speaketh lies. This includes posting unverified stories on social media, writing petitions against people under a false premise, discussing men of God and drawing wrong conclusions. Exodus 20 vs 16 warns against bearing false witness. A typical example is when Jezebel hired 2 men to lie against Naboth and killed him to take possession of his vineyard. 1kings 21.

  7. He that soweth discord among brethren. An example is where in a large family a wife sows discord between her husband and his brothers.

Consequences.

  1. You cannot receive from God.  Your prayers will go unanswered.

  2. You risk hellfire unless you repent

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “ Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord”.

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayers:

  1. Examine the 7 points above and find out which one you are guilty of and repent. Ask God to forgive you.

  2. Every seed of iniquity in my life is uprooted in the name of Jesus.

  3. Every evil flows from my foundation into my life dry up in the name of Jesus.

  4. Every evil tree growing in the garden of my life withers from your roots in the name of Jesus.

  5. O Lord cleanse Your church with You’re the refiner’s fire in the name of Jesus.

  6. O Lord heal our nation in the name of Jesus.
