WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU!

Today’s Reading:

Mark 10:46-52

“Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road [as was his custom] [Matt. 20:29-34; Luke 18:35-43]. When Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and say, “Jesus, Son of David (Messiah), have mercy on me.” Many sternly rebuked him, telling him to keep still and be quiet, but he kept on shouting out all the more. “Son of David (Messiah), have mercy on me! Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So, they called the blind man, telling him, “Take courage, get up! He is calling for you. Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni (my Master), let me regain my sight.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith [and confident trust in My power] has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Jesus on the road.” [Isa. 42:6,7] (Mark 10:46-52, AMPLIFIED)

If Jesus was passing by in our world today and ask us this question he asked blind Bartimaeus, our answer would vary from the desire of Moses to see the glory of God and live (Exodus 33:18); to James and John His disciples who wanted positions of honour (Mark 10:35-37); to Bartimaeus who wanted his physical eyes to be opened (v. 51); to Paul that wanted to know more of Christ, and the power of His resurrection (Phil. 3:10); to the Fraudster’s (419 Advance Free Fraud) mind who deceitfully squeeze money from their innocent victim in order to enjoy the riches and wealth of this world at all cost, not minding who is hurt; to the blood thirsty ritualists, who wants to capture easy human prey to kill for money, fame and riches of this world.

Looking at this passage and considering the state of situations in the country today, a mature spiritual mind would desire the healing of the mind. Because out of the mind flows the issues of life [day] (Proverbs 4:23). Our thinking shapes our life, it is the way we think that our lifestyle would be. Our mind is very important to God because it is the battle field of the enemy. The mind conceive thoughts of various actions, whether good or bad. Out of the mind flows the thought of robbery, suicide, rape, envy, covetousness, anger, wrath, rage, resentment, mercy, love, compassion, charity, and several emotions. Satan attacks our minds; this is why we must protect our minds from the onslaught of the enemy.

We can see that mercy of God precedes healing. Blind Bartaemus pleaded for mercy first, before making his request known. His persistent cry for help, not minding the reactions of people around him, not minding whether he is bothering Jesus, as the people say, or not. His persistent cry attracted Jesus to him. And he asked what do you want me to do for you? To attract the mercy of God, we must have been fed up with our situation and earnestly seek God for help.

What can hinder our cries from being heard?

  • Be Born Again - we must surrender to the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ for a regenerated mind, by the Holy Spirit. Without being born again, we cannot please God.

  • Be filled always with the Holy Spirit.

  • Sin – we cannot live in sin and expect the grace and mercies of God to abound in our lives.

  • Complete Forgiveness – when we say we have forgiven those who have done wrong to us; it must be totally. We cannot continue to go back and front, discussing out the hurt now and again, this will cause resentment. We must not allow our yesterday’s hurt to mere our blessings of today and tomorrow. This will open door of affliction and stealing from the enemy of our goodness.

  • Let the Word of God dwell richly in you. This book of law shall not depart your mouth. You shall meditate upon it day and night (Josh 1:8). Bible study is not optional it is a necessity in our dark world today that has been turned upside-down.

  • We must be biblical literate, know Bible warfare verses, the promises of God by heart.

  • Memorise the word of God. it is our offensive and defensive weapon.

  • Meditation of the word of God. this strengthen the mind and makes it healthy, and the blood of Jesus cleans it from all evil deposit, filth, pollution, and the Holy Ghost fire sanctifies it and makes it to function to the glory of God.

  • Be concerned with perishing souls. Be ready and fully armed with the whole amour of God to preach the Gospel of Truth (Mat 28:18-20).

  • Be able to pray all manner of prayers consistently every day.

  • Be able to daily put on the whole armour of God, it is with it that you can withstand in the evil day, having done all, be able to stand.
