Today’s Readings:

Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Psalm 119:1-2,4-5,7-8

Matthew 5:43-48

In life, if you want to do something, do it with your full heart. If you want to be Christian, go all in.  You cannot afford to be average or mediocre when you have the capacity for excellence. We are consecrated to God by our Baptism. We not only bear His name; we are His witnesses in a world where being Christian has become very unpopular. Some do not know what it means to be moral. Some do not have examples of morally upright people in their lives. You can be for them what few dare to be. You can be the difference in the world because God has given you the grace to stand for Him.

God expects perfection from you because you are capable of it. If you doubt that you have the strength, pray for it and you shall receive it (Mark 11:24). The grace which you receive ought to be put into practice in the different situations you will find yourself each day:

  • Commit fully to your relationship with God.

  • Let your lips only speak blessings and forgiveness.

  • Take prayer, reading of Scriptures and the sacraments seriously.

  • Show respect and be kind.

  • Never speak ill of anyone; learn to see the good in everyone.

  • Be chaste and faithful and do not be ruled by sins of the flesh.

  • Be content with who you are and what you have.

  • Have credibility—be consistent in your words and actions.

  • Know that you will be judged for every thought, word and action.

  • You shall be rewarded for all the good you do.

Goodness is worth the effort. May God who is the ultimate rewarder of all who do good, shower you with an overflow of his abundant grace. You will never regret the good you have done. Many will give glory to God because of you and you will shine forever in heaven in Jesus’ name. Amen.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud:

Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I believe and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart, keep me from all evil, and lead me in Your righteous path. Thank You, Lord!

If you said the above short prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest, as the case may be.

Prayer:

  1. Heavenly Father, help me to excuse the mistakes of others, love them unconditionally and so witness to the true love of Christ which has been poured into our hearts. Amen.
