WATCH AND BE SOBER

Today’s Reading:

I Thess. 5:1 – 6, 9 –11

In Matthew 24, Jesus answered the disciples when they came to Him privately saying: “Tell us, when shall, these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (Matthew 24:3).

Watch therefore for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come”Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh”. (vv. 42, 44)

This answer of Jesus was also replicated by Apostle Paul when addressing the Thessalonian church in the passage read. Therefore, brethren, let us not sleep as do others but let us watch and be sober.

As we are awaiting the coming of the Lord, beloved let us not be like those foolish five virgins who slumbered and slept forgetting to get oil for their lamps.

One of the hymns goes thus:

When Jesus come to reward His servants,

Whether it be noon or night,

Faithful to Him, will he find us watching!

With our lamps all trimmed and bright

Chorus:- Oh can we say we are ready brother,

Ready for the Soul’s bright home

Faithful to him, will he find us watching,

Waiting when the Lord shall come.

Are you actually ready for the Lord? He is coming very soon. Arise from your slumber! Awake, your master cometh!

Prayer:

  1. Oh God, give me oil in my lamp, and keep me burning, in Jesus name.

  2. Father! Wake me up from my slumber, in Jesus name.

  3. Lord Jesus, make me rupturable when you come, in Jesus name.

  4. Oh God, by Your mercy, hold me by Your right hand of power and lead me in Your path so that I will not miss Heaven, in Jesus name.

  5. Father, when you shall come, help me to reign with you, in Jesus name.
