Today’s Reading:

Psalm 29;

Job 39:13-25;

1Corinth 12:4-13

In Psalm 29:1 The Psalmist proclaims the voice of the Lord that “the voice of the Lord is over the waters, the God of Glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.” It is good to hear the positive voice of the Lord. Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord and he volunteered to do his work. He was so glad that he told the Lord, here I am send me. The same with other prophets like Ezekiel, Ezekiel 1: 28; Jeremiah in Jeremiah 10:13; Daniel in Daniel 4 :31 and all.

Moses heard the voice of the Lord and his life never remained the same. He was able to face Pharaoh and led the Israelites out of Egypt. He spoke to God face to face. Exodus 24:16. Numbers 7:89. What a rare privilege from God. Samuel too heard from God and that represents a turning point in his life. The voice of God is sweet to hear as his children because it gives us direction needed to navigate this world. A child of God needs to hear his voice so as not to take the wrong step in this journey of life. Jesus says I am the good shepherd my sheep hears my voice and they follow me. The voice of another they will not follow.

Jesus heard the voice of God at baptism to confirm his ministry. Matthew. 3:17, Mark 1:11 He always heard from God before acting. John 12 v. 28-30. At the transfiguration Jesus’s son-ship was confirmed. Mark 9:7, Luke 9:35. We therefore need to hear from God clearly everyday so that we will not miss our goal. This can be achieved by obeying his commandments and submitting to his will so as to enjoy the package he has for us.
