VICTORY IS OF THE LORD

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 64, Job 18:1-21, 1 Corinthians 1:18-24

The devil will always come with his schemes to shake the faith of the believers, it is not uncommon to see believers who are faced with one form of challenges or the other just like Job in the Bible days. At some point, it sometimes looks as if believers will never come out of the unpleasant situations that surrounds them. It is even worse for some people when it seems as though they are moving from one form of challenge to another. It leads to loss of faith and hope at times because it will seem as if the enemy and the challenge are gaining victory over us. At times it will look as though God is punishing us for our sins. The Psalmist cried up to God to preserve his life from his enemies and that God should deliver him from the secret counsel of the wicked ones.

It felt like their tongues that were as sharp as the sword was going to devour and finish him, and he felt like he was receiving a shoot from the wicked to his detriment. Often times, we are caught in challenges and situations similar and even worse than what David and Job went through in the Bible, but God is telling us that victory is of Him. He uses the wisdom of the world to prove their folly and makes the world see how obvious His saving power is. The Lord will always bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent people of the world who in the wisdom, God proves how foolish the wisdom of the world can be.

Do not fear, do not be dismayed, just as God gave David and Job victory, your victory over the challenges of your life is sure for the word of God says surely, God shall shoot at them with an arrow and suddenly shall they be wounded (psalm 64:7). Your victory over that challenge is on its way.

Believers should know that:

  • Challenges will always come; they are a part of human existence and should not distract us from our focus.

  • Challenges are meant to make us strong, to give us experience of how the world works, and how God deals with our individual self.

  • Challenges are not meant to destroy us but to teach us some important lessons of life.

  • We are bigger than every challenges that comes our way.

Believers should also know that:

  • Challenges are there to prove to us that God is still working in us to perfect His purpose in our lives (Ps. 64)

  • Fainting in the days of adversities means that our faith is small, and that believers are meant to be strong (Prov 24:10)

  • God never leaves or forsake His own, and that He is still in the business of saving believers (Isaiah 41:10)

  • In the times of adversities, the word of God written in the Bible is there to make us strong and help us overcome the challenges (2 Tim 2:15).
