UNINTERRUPTED CALLING SERVICE

Today’s Reading:

Amos 7:12-15; Ephesians 1:3-10; Mark 6:7-13

There are many things that threaten ministries or representatives of God. Each profession is a place to demonstrate God’s calling in one’s life. Amos was a shepherd and farmer (Amos 7:14), he became a seer and prophesied God’s mind for people at Bethel. He was threatened to stop prophesying since his ministry/service crushed another. Amos demonstrated boldness as he was not afraid to speak God’s mind, no matter how influential Amaziah was. Every ministry or profession must correct errors in society; this is what the ministry of Amos did to alleviate problems from this planet earth.

Children of God are not called to exercise timidity as people of the world will not want them subduing them, but the truth must be told to correct evils in society. Jesus told his disciples “…you are the one given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God…” (Matt.13:11, Eph.1:9). Overcoming challenges and evil in the world is not by physical strength. Jesus Christ is capable of supplying daily needs for his people that is why he instructed them not to go with their purse, food, and money (Mark 6:8). If he said they should not go with these, he must have intended to supply them their needs – but preaching the gospel must be made first priority.
