"PASSWORD" is a term we are all too familiar with. It grants access to pleasures and privileges meant for a few. What if I told you that there is a password that grants you access to the greatest gifts of all, divine favour? The passwords are "charity" and "humility". They are twin virtues that are always found together. To possess charity is to be humble. To be humble is to be charitable. These two can unlock the doors to any favour, material or spiritual. Their contrary vices (selfishness and pride) are both repulsive and disagreeable with God. "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:6-7).
What are the benefits of Humility and Charity?
Humility and charity make you attractive. These virtues attracted Boaz to Ruth and he married her.
Humility and charity made the Virgin Mary the Mother of God.
Humility will unlock any difficult door in your life.
Humility will help you see that you are not in competition with anyone else but yourself.
Humility and charity both speak for you in your absence.
Humility will grant your prayers direct access to the courts of heaven (not shouting and screaming).
A humble person shall never be overcome by evil.
God will always humble the proud and exalt the humble.
Humility is the queen of all virtues. If you are humble you will have the other virtues necessary for salvation.
Jesus is the source of humility. He tells us to learn from Him because he is gentle and humble of heart.
Most of all, the reality of heaven (and divine favour) is revealed to those who have faith, prepared for those who have hope and given to those who are charitable. And all three virtues (faith, hope and charity) are found in the one who is humble. May God, make you humble in Jesus’ name.
