THE UNFATHOMABLE GOD

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 8

“O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and suckling’s hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8)

To keep sound wisdom, discretion and understanding so as to walk in safety and safely without stumbling, that your rest at night will be void of fear but sweet when you lie down to sleep and wicked attacks will not cross or slip into your mind, then your depth of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the power of God even in the establishment of heaven and earth which is embedded in his words you must possess.

In the passage for consideration, the psalmist pointed out in verse 3 acknowledging the great and wonderful works of God, how he created the universe with the Sun and Moon regulating the activities of the creation. Man, animals, birds both in water, sky and land, volcano's both on land and in water, mountains both on land and sea, cave's to mention but a few. While v4-6 queried the importance of man which Genesis 2:7-25 answered. Man was made in God's image and likeness (Genesis 1:26), given charge to have dominion over all creation (Genesis 2:8), was provided with good food (2:9), was given responsibilities (2:15), even a help meet for better coordination (2:20). Based on this few man still remains the best living created wonder, which He even had to send His only begotten son to rescue from total destruction due to his frailty. The love of God for man cannot be over emphasized, the excellence of our God through His divine providence in care and nurturing is emphatically unfathomable.

Though his ways are not our ways, neither his thoughts our thoughts... Isaiah 55:8, so regardless of your wickedness, disobedience, mistakes, hypocrisy etc, God is bound by His words: While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22 KJV). Though unquestionable but not wicked, He is a loving and compassionate God, full of mercy. Acknowledge His providence over your life and families today as you recount those millions of his interventions and encounters in your life.
