Today’s Reading:
2 Cor. 4: 3 – 6 (5)
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake”
(v. 5)
Apostle Paul in his epistle read today, he made it known that the gospel, which is the message from God, is open and revealed to everyone, except to those who refuse to believe. The devil tactic is to block and blindfold people from listening to and see the goodness of God through His message.
Satan is ‘’the god of this age’’. His work is to deceive and he has blinded those who don’t believe in Christ (cf-2 Cor. 11:14-15). The love of money, power and pleasure blind people to the light of Christ’s gospel.
Apostle Paul main focus in the ministry is to preach Christ; he makes Christ his only focus and not himself. Many so call men of God this time around try to show-case themselves and not the ONE who called them.
Our attitudes toward God’s message anytime we have the grace to witness are to tell people about what Christ has done, and not about our abilities and accomplishments. People must be introduced to Christ and not you. And if you hear someone preaching himself or his own ideas rather than Christ, my friend, please beware – he is a false teacher.
There is another right attitude Paul displayed among the Corinthians, and that is attitude of servant, not minding him being disappointed by the Corinthian Church. He remained focused. Serving people requires a sacrifice of time and personal desires. We need to agree that, to be Christ’s followers means serving other, even when they do not measure up to our expectation. This is Christ attitude (Matt. 20: 28; Mark 10: 45; John 13:1-17).
When we receive Christ into our life, His attitudes will surely reside in us. Christ in us (You & I), the hope of glory (Colossians 1: 27).
