THE PURPOSE OF JESUS’ DEATH

Today’s Reading:

Hebrews 2:5-9

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”

(Hebrews 2:9)



Jesus was with the Father from inception. He was, before the Father created the earth, we dwell in. The Bible calls Him the ‘Word of God’. In verse 9b of today’s passage says …”now crowned with glory and honour”…, Jesus said in John 17:5, “Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” Before Jesus died for our sin, He was full of Glory and also glorified after His death. Jesus Christ did not consider His glory, but he came to us, lower than angels and died for you and I.


Jesus death and resurrection brings to us New life (2Tim 1:9-10), New Birth (1Pet 1:3), New Beginning (2Cor 5:17), Victory over Satan (1Jn 4:4;5:4-5), Authority over Satan (1Pet 3:21-22), Power over Satan (Eph. 1:18-23), and Make us sons and daughters, and Heir in God’s Kingdom. If Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour could suffer death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone, yet, you did accept Him into your life or follow His command, the Bible says, the wrath of God is upon those who reject the Son (Jesus).


Let us realign our way and come to Jesus so that we will enjoy all what he had brought to us.

Prayer:

  1. Father do not let the death and resurrection of our Lord be in vain upon my life as I walk with you, in Jesus name.

  2. Father in heaven, let Your purpose of sending Your only begotten Son to us come to fulfillment upon my life, in Jesus name.

  3. Holy Spirit empower me to conquer the power of death waging war against my life and destiny, in Jesus name.

  4. Father Lord give me victory through Your power of resurrection over my enemies, in Jesus name.

  5. Father, Your word says, the Son of God was made manifest to destroy the works of the devil. O Lord destroy every work of darkness in my life and family, by the power of Your Resurrection and the blood of Jesus.

  6. Father Lord visit Christian homes and marriages with Your Resurrection power, in Jesus name.

  7. O Lord revive Your work in our nation, Nigeria, in Jesus’ name.
