The Bible says a fool says in his heart that there is no God. The best thing that can happen to us is to experience the raw power of God. When God directs our steps, we live a wonderful life with our happiness and everlasting joy in the new heaven assured. I pray that none of us will be missing in the new Jerusalem in the name of Jesus. Jonah can be counted as one of the luckiest persons on earth. He received a direct instruction from God and yet disobeyed God. But God in his mercies redeemed him but he had to go through some form of reformations before he was accepted back into the kingdom. Three days and three nights in the belly of a whale is not a tea party. A lot of people are not that lucky.

God does not like disobedience. Saul paid heavily for disobedience; he was not given a second chance. The young prophet had a clear instruction from God but chose to follow the instruction of the man of God. He didn’t get a second chance. Man lost salvation at the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit through the subtlety of the devil and the consequences were indeed grave and are still with us till today. When we listen to the voice of men instead of the voice of God we run into troubled waters. Moses was given a specific instruction to speak to the water, but he struck the rock with his rod. The rod which was the instrument of salvation at the Red Sea became his albatross at the water of Meribah. He could not enter the promised land. What a heavy price to pay for disobedience.

When we misuse the privilege of hearing from God and allow disobedience to take over, we give room for the devil to operate. The strong writer admonishes us to trust and obey God when we walk with him. God knows what is best for us. He can never lead us astray. Jesus said I know my sheep and my sheep know me and hearken to my voice and not any other voice. Thank God the prodigal son repented and retraced his steps and gained back his inheritance in the kingdom. Are you a disobedient child? Repent and come back to Jesus today and he will welcome you with open arms. (Isaiah 1 v 16-17). There is joy in heaven over a sinner who repents.

Prayer:

  1. Every spirit of disobedience in my life be destroyed by the power of God in the name of Jesus.

  2. Oh Lord my God in your mercy forgive me in any area that I have disobeyed you in the name of Jesus.

  3. Powers that are pushing me and my family to disobey God, be silenced in the name of Jesus.

  4. Oh Lord in your mercy forgive every act of disobedience in the church and give the church a second chance in the name of Jesus.

  5. Oh Lord in your mercy forgive the Nations that have disobeyed you and turn their hearts back to you in the name of Jesus.
