Today’s Reading:
2 Peter 1:16-21
“We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard – God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic word was conformed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it” (2 Peter 1:19 MSG).
When a man lose focus, distractions set in. To focus is to concentrate your effort. It means to look straight, eager to reach a desired destination, moving forward at the expense of various distractions. Apostle Peter in his writings was so sure of his encounter on the mount of transfiguration (Matt 7:1-8). He was not going to move from his determination to follow JESUS. He was ready to look at Jesus at all cost as the author and finisher of faith (Heb.12:2).
Although, there are many distractions and barriers standing in the way of believers to hinder them from obeying the word of God. However, a focused child of God will not be deferred by the situations around him. He will only be moved by his convictions or his understanding of who God is. Whenever the tempter comes to steal our heart away from God, you must remember what He has done in your life. Similar to it is His word which is settled in Heaven. Trusting His faithfulness will also help you keep going good even when the going is tough. The three Hebrews did not look their power of focus on the living God when their faith was challenged (Daniel 3:16-18). They were determined to face the consequences of their faith in the living God. To God be the glory, God proved Himself in their situation.
It does not matter how critical your present situations may seem; you must be conscious of the promises of God for your life. Whenever God speaks on your issues, you must know that is final. Until He speak do not give in fear or doubts, worry or anxiety. He is always faithful to His word. Those who are focused on Him will feel no shame. “They looked to Him and were radiant and felt no shame” (Psalm 34:5).
To stand strong in the storm of life, you must be ready to focus on God and His word. His word is true and faithful, full of power and authority. It stands forever and cannot fail. As you trust His power and His unfailingly word, He will strengthen you and all His promises shall come to pass in your Life (In Jesus Name, Amen). Shalom!
