THE MIND OF CHRIST

Today’s Reading:

Philippians 2: 5-11

“In your relationship with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus”

(Philippians 2:5 NIV)

Paul’s writing to the Church at Philippi admonished them to have the same mind set as Christ Jesus. How? Who though equal with God however, equality with God was not something to be used to His own advantage. Rather, He made Himself nothing, that is, emptied himself; stepped down for God. He set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave in order to fulfil the agenda of God. This entails a selfless and obedience life to the point of crucifixion; the worst form of death.

This is the mind we have been called as Christians to have. It consists of acknowledging your status, privileges, rights and setting them aside as nothing for the excellency of knowing and serving Christ (Philippians 3:8). Without this mindset, it’s impossible to do the will of God or accomplish much in God’s kingdom. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. This mindset is blessed by God. “ “Wherefore, God also has highly exalted Him (Jesus) and given Him a name that is above every name” (Philippians 2:9 KJV). “Therefore, let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than themselves” (Philippians 9:3 KJV). We have Jesus for our example, walk in His steps.

You are not qualified to call Christ your Lord until people begin to see Christ through you. Christ is expecting you to live in complete obedience to Him as He did to God. His humility and heart of forgiveness must be emulated. He desires your constant fellowship with Him like He did with the father. His act of touching others and meeting their needs are all essential if you care to live like Him. His loving grace is available, and He will give you a transformed heart to daily live your life for Him.
