Today’s Reading:

Psalm 80:1-2

Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the Cherubim, shine forth. (v. 1)

A shepherd is somebody who is responsible for caring for and guiding a group of people, especially a Christian minister. A Christian minister is a representative of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the head of church. In John 10:11, 14; Jesus Christ said “I am the good shepherd.” This statement means we are all the flock of God, shepherd by our Lord Jesus Christ. In today’s bible passage, Psalm 80 was written by Asaph. He called on the Shepherd (God) of Israel to come and save them. He acknowledge the Israelite as the flock of God. The people of Israel had sin against God and they were been oppressed by the enemy. Asaph called on God their shepherd to restore them unto Himself because the shepherd will not allow His flock to wander away.

As a son of God via our Lord Jesus Christ, let us call on our shepherd (God) for help, protection, sustenance, provision, and restoration. Asaph called upon the shepherd of Israel to hear their prayer for restoration of Israel. In any situation you are going through, you should call on Jesus to come to your aid as a good shepherd. You, just obey His commandment and follow His teaching. May God help you as you make Jesus as your good shepherd.

Prayer:

  1. O Lord, as one of Your flock, led me wherever You want me to go and do whatever you want me to do, and empower me, in Jesus name.

  2. My Lord and Shepherd my life and my family, as we surrendered our lives to You, empower us in Jesus name.

  3. Father LORD, help me to recognize myself as your flock and obey your commandment, in Jesus name.

  4. O Shepherd of Israel, teach me to observe my daily encounter activities with your word, in Jesus name.
