Today’s Reading:
Psalm 33:12-22
“Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, Upon them that hope in his mercy;
To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.” (vv. 18-19)
To fear someone means that you do not want to offend him/her. If as a human who knows how to fear your fellow human, what about our God (creator). The psalmist understood the fear of God. Due to the psalmist’s experience of fearing God, he knows how God’s eyes are upon him when he was battling with his enemies. In verse 18, the LORD delivered him from death and gave him hope when there was no hope for him again.
We all have to learn from the psalmist, every one of us has to fear God. If you and I have to benefit from the implication of fearing God that the psalmist experienced, we have to first give our lives to Jesus Christ. Secondly, obey His teaching/command by reading the word of God and practising what we read. When we all fear God, we will not want to sin against him by allowing sin to live in our lives. If we abstain from sin, the Lord’s eye will be upon us and deliver us from evil and danger.
