Today’s Reading:
Exodus 1:8-14, 22
God started the process with Abraham through his word in Genesis 15:12-13 but the plan began to find fulfilment through the sale of Joseph to the Midianites merchantmen, who in turn sold him into Egypt (Genesis.37:38,36) was all part of God's wisdom to preserve his children from destruction, extinction and starvation the famine could cause (Genesis 50:19&20) and to build a nation out of the Lord's beloved while Genesis 46:26-27 gave us a headcount of those who went to meet Joseph in Egypt.
The ideal thing for a boxing coach or an athlete preparing for a competition or a match of ninety minutes or twelve bouts is to train for several hours, weeks and months with rigorous exercises for fitness and learn techniques to be in good shape of mind and body and develop tactical skills to overpower the opponents. This was the case as God stylishly took to Egypt and removed all the comfort, they were enjoying before the death of Pharaoh king of Egypt. A new one came to power who knew not Joseph ( Exodus 1:8). How long this king reigned or ruled and afflicted the Israelites was not known but their total stay in Egypt was 430 years (Exodus 12:40-41). But God sustained, preserved and strengthened the Israelites in the land of affliction and slavery, and they too were resolute, looking on to God for deliverance, while none tried to become Egyptian citizens or become a friend to Pharaoh or his people to avert the suffering.
Psalm 30:5b "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. The intriguing part also is that the master planner God allowed Pharaoh's wicked deeds so as to show His greatness over the situation. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Romans 9:17 KJV
