Today’s Reading:
Isaiah 54:1-8
“Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord. Enlarge the place of thy tent and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.” (Isaiah 54:1-8 KJV)

Restoration is a process or an act of bringing back to its former position or condition. When something is restored, it is always better than what it used to be or what it was. In Nigeria it's about 32 years of democratic rule and the only thing this present democracy has brought to the economy, security and general living standards is disaster because everything has gone from bad to worse due to insensitive, self-centred leaders being placed at the helm of affairs who have plundered the country's both natural and human resources by enrichment of their pockets through various acts of embezzlement. They also got involved in recruitment of hooligans and saturation of deadly alcohol and hard drugs into the society to cause chaos and distraction. The European nations are at loggerhead, China against Korea, Russia against Ukraine. Small nations are constantly under threat and oppression of rich powerful nations.
Hunger, starvation and drought is ravaging countries like Angola, Sudan, Somalia with various internal crisis. But the passage for our consideration says "Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord." (v. 1 KJV) and didn't seem to see the selfish or self-centred political leaders, banditries, oppressions, war's but rather it's saying that the barren, the desolate, hopeless and helpless people on earth regardless of where the problems is coming from or who is causing the chaos, sing for joy, for our God is bigger and mightier than any challenging situation/circumstances standing like the wall of Jericho or the Red Sea.
"Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. "So, are you feeling forsaken? it's okay that you feel this way because of what you have been experiencing for some time now but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy redeemer. This is an assurance from the one who saith and makes it to come to pass. Yes "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." (Psalm 91:7 KJV) and “When thou passes through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walk through the fire,
thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isaiah 43:2 KJV).
Even if you have given the enemy a foothold or giant step to operate in your life, our God is willing and able to forgive when you come to surrender and confess it all before Him. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. (vv. 7-8 KJV)
