Today’s Reading:
Luke 10:13-16
" Then He said to His disciples, "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God who sent me." (v.16)
To reject in this context is to disown or to pretend not to be in a relationship with someone. It also suggests a refusal to accept someone's authority or right of leadership. The Lord Jesus was embittered with the people of Korazin and Bethsaida for not yielding to the message of the gospel notwithstanding the miracles He performed in those cities.
Similarly, today, many people are misusing their opportunity by refusing to accept the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, they are ignorant of the fact that to reject the gospel amounts to rejecting Christ which also translate to rejecting God. What a dangerous life!
My question to you today is: What has been your reaction to the various messages being preached to you? In John 3:17-18, the Bible says "There is no judgement against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in Him had already being judged for not believing in God's one and only Son," Whoever decides to reject Jesus must be prepared to face God's judgment. Your religious background or social status does not matter. "Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Also, Jesus said, those who will be qualified to receive forgiveness for their sins and pass from death to life are those who hear His Word and believe in God who sent Him (John 5:24).
Today the same paradox continues to exist, many are not yielding to the truth of the gospel. Those who refuse or reject the message of salvation shall come under God's judgment. While those who accept His message of salvation shall have their sins forgiven.
I want to challenge you to always remember that as important as hearing the gospel message is, of equal importance is what you do with the message. "No Jesus no life" and "know Jesus know life." To avoid the sorrow of rejection, there is need for you to come to Jesus today in true repentance. "Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
