THE CALL TO PRAISE

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 117

“O praise the LORD, all ye nations; praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great towards us: and the truth of the LORD endureth forever. Praise ye the LORD.” [v. 1-2]

Psalm 117 reminds us all that we have to praise the Lord at all times. Whether you are in the midst of blessing or in the midst of suffering, we must praise the Lord. Psalm 117 is a small Bible chapter with big truth. It is full of some amazing truth. If you are ever wondering what to do in life, just read Psalm 117. It makes things clear in the first three words - “Praise the Lord.”

We were created to praise God our Maker. When we praise the Lord, we have true joy, peace of mind, hope and love. Quite often, we lose this focus and get sidetracked by either ourselves or by others. It is easy to think that the world revolves around us, but this is completely false. When we start feeling superior to the next person or start praising ourselves for our achievements, then we might need to rethink where our devotion lies - God or ourselves? Making ourselves the center of praise is bad.

Verse two gives us some reasons which should lead us to praise God in all situations : God’s love and His faithfulness . God will always love us. He sacrificed His only begotten Son - Jesus Christ for the sake of the world. This is a thought which should lead us to praise God. Nothing can be completely faithful to us, not even ourselves. Only God is completely faithful. This is also a thought that should lead us to praise God at all times.
