THAT I MAY DIE THE DEATH OF THE RIGHTEOUS

Today’s Reading:

John 8:21-30

Balaam was a powerful diviner whom the Moabites and their King Balak the son of Zippor consulted to help them curse the children of Israel according to, Numbers 22:6 KJV: "Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blesseth is blessed, and he whom thou curseth is cursed. "And at once swung into action by praying and God quickly answered by saying, "And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed."( Numbers 22:12 KJV). And after it was reported to the king, the king changed his tactics by trying to lure and entice him with various things and from then on as long as he (Balaam) entertained the Moabites and their King he was walking and working contrary to God's divine instructions.

And eventually, "Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them." (Joshua 13:22 KJV). He (Balaam) lost his life and died in his sins. In the passage Jesus took time to speak to the Jewish authorities to repent and seek for mercy, forgiveness or die in their sins but because they have been blind folded by the devil, they entered into war of relevance with God (may you not be blind folded by the enemy.) They could not see the divine nature of Christ just as Nicodemus saw. "The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him."; (John 3:2 KJV).

Their knowledge of scriptures with the respect and honour they enjoyed entered into their heads and that strengthened them to want to eliminate anyone who crosses that path.

Remember:

1. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not

receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

  1. Corinthians 4:7 KJV

  2. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 KJV

  3. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12 KJV.
