Today’s Reading:
1 Thess. 2:9-13; Matt. 23:27-32
The composer of a song, “Must I Go Empty Handed” realized he had nothing to offer when he appears before God. He was remorseful of the fruitless life he lived. He was sincere in his lifestyle as he could not record a good testimony in his lifetime. He later encouraged others to stand for the good work of the gospel. “… O ye saints, arouse, be earnest, up and work while yet ‘tis day; ere the night of death o’er take thee, strive for souls while still, you may.” He later preached the gospel at the tail end of his life.
Anyone who does good will be so much confident to report it. There is confidence in the speech of Paul to the people of Thessalonica. There would be a day you will be asked to speak to convince others about the experience you have gathered – anyone who does nothing will have nothing to say. David spoke convincingly to King Saul when he was requesting to fight Goliath – the testimony of his service changed and convinced Saul. David was allowed to fight Goliath because of the good service he rendered in the past and that opened another portfolio for him. (1 Sam.17: 34-37). As good testimony lingers in the memory of men so also the atrocious acts of people linger in the memory of men. People will not forget if you do well or bad – choose to do good from today as people make reference to your actions in the coming future.
