Psalm 78:1-4, 12-16
Isa. 48:17-21
James 4:11-16
Miracles are part and parcel of God – God himself is a wonder, and His actions or charismas are mysterious. What He does is beyond what other gods can do. The totality of God cannot be known but he reveals himself to His people through what he does and what people see around. God is pictured through His actions, but His totality is unlimited. He performs signs and wonders for people to know Him far better than any other gods – His wonders and mysterious acts cannot be hidden; it is reflected in the lives of the people, especially the ones that believe him.
God is generous in signs and wonders – He blows air to all mankind, He sends rain to the earth and ray of the sun dashes through the universe, but some specific signs and wonders can only be enjoyed by the people who do not deny His instruction - that is why it is dangerous to disobey the precepts of God. Signs and wonders of God last longer for the incoming generation to see to boost and enhance their faith in Him. It is the duty of the parents and all other followers of God to pass the attitude and charisma of God to other generations (Joel 1:3). This is done so that people will believe more in God, but unfortunately the reverse is the case the Israelites, and it reflects the recalcitrant attitude of the generation. People are wallowing in sin which hinders other people from coming to God – they move from one sin to the other. This is what God detests and reduces the way he moves through signs and wonders among people.
The people of Israel were typical examples of these appalling actions which is why God released them to exile. This is not to destroy them but to make them realize their wrongs and come back to Him; anyone who comes back to God is accepted and welcomed back into the fold. Judgment is unto God. He judges people with his righteous acts. The responsibility of judging people is released to those who are righteous – the Bible says, tell the righteous one that it shall be well with him. Zion will be judged for redemption and righteousness (Isa. 1:27; 3:10).
OLOYEDE, SUNDAY OYEDELE
Prayer:
I will extol thee, my God; O king; and I will bless thy name from ever and ever.
Every day will I bless thee, and I will praise thy name forever and ever.
God do not withdraw your wonders from my life.
God, take away the recalcitrant spirit from us in this present age.
God, destroy the work of the devil that occupies the position of wonders in my life.
God, allow me to represent you well in all the nooks and crannies of this earth.
God do not allow Satan to quench the fire of mission in this nation in Jesus' mighty name. Amen
