TAKE HEED TO YOURSELF

Today’s Reading:

Luke 21:34-38

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts are weighted down with dissipation.”

(Luke 21:34a)

The scenario in Luke 21:34-38 can be connected with the issues in Matthew 24 and Mark 13:1-37 which are all pointing to judgments on Jerusalem and also the end time. The time the whole world is now is so terrible. It is characterized by famine, earthquakes, wars, suicidal thoughts, betrayal and worst of all backsliding among Christians. People find it difficult now to serve God. The challenges are numerous such that the church also needs help. Marriages are broken on an hourly and weekly basis. Fake pastors and prophets are on the increase. People portray godly lifestyles, but they deny the power of holy living. And the statement made by Jesus in Luke 18:8b, nevertheless when the son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth? It’s becoming real that faith is dwindling.

In the midst of all these, the scriptural injunction is TAKE HEED TO YOURSELF. This could mean: examining yourself daily, being careful of how you live your Christian life, never losing sight of your walk with the Master, checking your spiritual level from time to time, and checking your love life just as Jesus asked Peter in the book of John 21 if Peter truly loved him. Children of God must keep their heads above the waters in a time like this. Giants in faith are falling, what a disaster to the body of Christ and heaven! Dear friends, if you are a child of God, you need to be extra careful now than ever before. The scripture says, now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed Romans 13:11-14. The Son of man is coming soonest, the rapture of the saints is here, so take heed to yourself so that you will not be caught unawares.

Don't say you were not told. And if you have not given your life to Christ, delay is dangerous, do it now by saying this prayer after me: “Lord Jesus, l heard your word and l know you came into the world to save me. l confess my sins today, forgive me and make me one of your children by writing my name in the Book of Life. Be my Lord and Saviour henceforth and let Your Spirit dwell in me, in Jesus’ name l pray. Once you say this prayer sincerely, the Holy Spirit will lead you to join a Bible-believing church for you to be nurtured to grow in the Lord.

JAMES ALADE

PRAYER:

  1. Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.

  2. Before the mountains were brought to being, or ever thou has formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

  3. I receive grace to walk faithfully before God all the days of my life in Jesus' name

  4. Powers waiting to strike me down on the way to the kingdom of God, you are a liar die in Jesus’ name

  5. Every form of spiritual lukewarmness in my life let the Holy Ghost fire visit them in Jesus' name.

  6. For as many who have backslidden, oh God of restoration, restore them to Your fold, in Jesus' name.
