STRONGER THAN DEATH

Today’s Readings:

2 Samuel 18:9-10,14,24-25,30-19:3

Psalm 86:1-6

Mark 5:21-43

Parents are the eyes through which a child sees the world. The presence or absence of parents in the lives of their children affects what they think, know and believe about the world. The world is either a safe place or a wicked place. People are either good or evil. Your actions are either right or wrong. God either exists or does not matter. Money, fame and power are either tools or gods. Your view on these ideas is directly influenced by what your parents believe. May your life as a parent be the primary influence on your child so that they stay on the path of righteousness in Jesus’ name.

Good parents make their children’s welfare their topmost priority. They would rather suffer than let any harm come to their children. David wept upon learning of Absalom’s death. He cried, “My son Absalom! Would I have died in your place! Absalom, my son, my son!” (2 Samuel 18:33). It did not matter that Absalom wished his father dead. A good parent will never wish to bury their children because their love is stronger than death. I pray that God will keep death away from your children in Jesus’ name. You will never bury your children in Jesus’ name. You will live to a ripe old age and see your children’s children in the mighty name of Jesus.

Jairu's rain to Jesus as the solution to his child’s condition. He led Jesus to her death bed and Jesus raised her and demonstrated His power over sickness and death. On the way there, a woman touched Jesus in faith and received healing for a haemorrhage that had lasted 12 years. As the son of the Eternal Father, Jesus knew her and commended her faith. He called her “daughter” (Mark 5:34). This demonstrates that God’s love for us is far superior to the love of our biological parents. And even when he permits us to go through some form of suffering, it is to strengthen our faith and dependence on Him. That faith, once strengthened, will never die. May your faith lead you to Jesus and may He grant you even more than you desire, through the same Christ our Lord.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud:

Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I believe and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank You, Lord!  If you said the above short prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. That God will imbue all parents and future parents with the love and care necessary to raise good and God-fearing children in Jesus’ name.

  2. May parents and future parents set clear boundaries of love and mutual respect in their lives to inspire their children to love and discover the beauty of the marriage vocation in Jesus’ name.

  3. May children grow to love and respect their parents and be a source of blessing to their families in Jesus’ name.

  4. May families make time for each other and express their love for one another in Jesus’ name.

  5. May evil friendships not lead good and vulnerable children astray in Jesus’ name.

  6. May sickness and unprovided death not snatch children from their parents in Jesus’ name.

  7. May wayward and stubborn children receive a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit and repent of their sinful ways in Jesus’ name.

  8. May those who plot through physical and diabolical means not succeed in stealing the joy of parenthood from families in Jesus’ name.

  9. May the love of Jesus protect and keep every child and restore them to their parents in Jesus’ name.

  10. Eternal Father, help us love you above all things, and everyone in our lives with a love that is worthy of you through Christ our Lord. Amen.
