Today’s Reading:
Psalm 16
“Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god.” (Psalm 16:4a)

The wind is invisible, ungraspable, and constantly moving. No matter how hard you try, you cannot catch it. So, chasing the wind symbolises wasting time, energy, or life on things that lead nowhere. In the text of the scripture, with a focus on verse four, the sorrows of following idols or gods are enormous. Today, idols can be money, fame, relationships, success, self, or even mere or meaningless religious activities that are not rooted in Christ rather in the frivolity of life. People are rushing, pursuing, and investing their lives in things that cannot save them. The devil promises riches and other wonderful things, but the end is always sorrow, pain and shame.
The rich young ruler in the bible came to Jesus with a sincere question of what he could do to inherit eternal life, but went away sorrowful. He was not ready to pay the price of following Jesus. The only barrier in his life was the riches. What exactly is the wind you are also pursuing at the expense of your creator? Life is fleeting, and every other thing will pass away except God. You cannot continue this way. Why not come to your creator today? He’s extending the invitation to you. He’s standing at the door of your heart, knocking. Do not delay the day of your salvation. Open up to Him now, the only minute you have is now. Delay is highly dangerous.
Sing this song with me:
Into my heart /2ce
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus
Come in today, come in to stay.
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, Amen.
As you decide to stop chasing the wind and to be a God chaser, say the prayer below:
JAMES ALADE
To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”
If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and meet the resident reverend, pastor or priest.
