SPIRIUTAL WARFARE

Today’s Reading:

Esther 7: 1- 10

“The king said, “Impale him on it! So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. Then, the king’s fury subsided.” (vv. 9b-10)

Haman had all plans laid out to execute Mordecai and make a mockery of the Jews in the land. When Mordecai heard this, he did not hesitate to inform Esther who was privileged to be serving as the Queen. Haman revealed to us the deep- seated wickedness in the heart of a man. Jeremiah 17: 9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, desperately wicked: who can know it?” While Mordecai on the other hand showed us how evil agenda can be nipped in the bud by speaking with the right people. While the people were fasting, Esther walked her way to the king, made petition and thwarted the sinister plans of Haman. Our petition as believers must however rise to the King of Kings; God if we would win.

The Scriptures did not leave us ignorant of the warfare we are in as believers. Ephesians 6: 12 says; “For we are not fighting against flesh- and- blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in the dark world and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Having this understanding, we must be ready to engage God’s word and prayers as weapons for victory.

The knowledge of God’s word will instil unusual confidence in you and help you to understand the victory you already have through Christ Jesus. The Scripture affirms that “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us together in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”( Ephesians 2:6.) No matter the opposition, you can be sure you are above them already. “Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Without this, you will become an easy target for the enemy. You must walk in the power of God’s word as you engage the Scriptures in prayer.

The opposition will come, but they must meet you prepared. No soldier gets prepared on the battlefield. Your victory has been secured in Christ, but you must walk in this reality in order to claim the victory. Bring every evil agenda of the enemy to a staggering halt by engaging God’s word and prayer.
