Today’s Readings:
Isaiah 10:5-7,13-16
Psalm 94:5-10,14-15
Matthew 11:25-27
"If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the LORD does not protect the city, it is useless for the sentries to stand guard." (Psalms 127:1)
Lord, I surrender myself and all that I do today to You. Take absolute control of my life and do with me as You will. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of today. “Some of us are wise, every other person is overwise”. You cannot be wiser than the One who made you. The biggest problem for most people is that they do not understand that there are hierarchies in this world, there are powers beyond us. It is only by acknowledging God’s authority over your life that you can overcome the spiritual forces bent on dominating and overpowering you. Failure to acknowledge God and his authority over you is setting yourself up for destruction. May this not be your portion in Jesus’ name.
Right now, you may be up, you may be strong and towering over everyone like an iroko tree and you may be at the peak of your career, and experiencing success in your public life. There is a tendency to think you are in control. There is no faster way to die than thinking you are in charge. Acknowledging God is what makes you His child and shields you from the things you cannot see. Jesus says: “I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children” (Matthew 11:25).
The children of God:
Acknowledge God as Father and call on Him in good and bad times.
They invite God at the beginning of every day and hand the day to His authority.
They have spiritual directors who back them up in prayer and provide guidance.
They rest in the words of Scripture and listen to its counsel.
They invest their time and resources in building God’s kingdom on earth.
They realise that without God nothing can begin and nothing lasting is achieved.
They enthrone God’s kingdom by living holy lives.
They humble themselves by serving others.
They touch the lives of everyone they encounter, knowing full well that we are all God’s children.
They continually lift others.
They inspire others with their art creativity, their innovation and resourcefulness.
Are you such a person? Then you are truly wise.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”
If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.
Prayer:
Lord, I am neither the Master of my fate nor the captain of my soul.
Lord, all I have and all I am is a gift from You.
Lord, thank you for your protection and guidance.
Lord, give a sense of direction to my life through the persons you have placed over me.
Lord, help me listen to Your Word and feast on it daily.
Lord, help me to experience consolation in prayer daily.
Lord, bend my will to You and have your way in my life.
Lord, may I use every breath of my life to praise You.
Lord, help me to live this life in readiness for eternity. Amen.
Lord, I surrender myself and all that I do today to You. Take absolute control of my life and do with me as You will. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of today. Amen.
