Safe and Secure

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 46:1-11(1-2)

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress" (vv.1-2)

Psalm 46 reveals to us that God is always there to help, providing refuge, security, and peace. God's power is complete and His ultimate victory is certain. And that this God will not fail to rescue those who love and trust in Him. The psalmist was rest assured that God's people are safe and secure under His mighty protection.

In a way of trying to x-ray this chapter of the book of Psalm forty-six; verse one through to three say something about "PROTECTION FROM GOD" - The psalmist finds security and peace in knowing that God watches over his people.

a) Its availability (v. 1): God is always ready to be our refuge.

b) Its dependability (vv. 2 – 3): We should not fear, since God is with us through all circumstance;

i) Though the world is destroyed (v. 2)

ii) Though the seas or oceans roar (v. 3).

In verse four through to five we can see the "PARADISE OF GOD": Here the psalmist describes the perfect tranquility of the city of God.

a. Its river brings joy and gladness (v. 4)

b. It is God’s home (vv. 4-5)

c. It is eternal (v. 5). This is a city that can never be destroyed.

Furthermore, verse six through to eight also shows us THE POWER OF GOD. Here God brings destruction on the world. Verse nine of this Psalm forty-six shows us God as a doubled edged sword. The Psalmist talk of THE PEACE OF GOD that is, God will someday end wars throughout the earth.

Finally, in verse ten through to eleven which are concluding verses of Psalm forty-six – God’s expectation from His own, is to ascribe PRAISES TO HIM. In verse ten, God in His mightiness gave words of assurance, just as Moses did to the people of Israel at the verge of the Red sea; “Be still ………’’ (Psalm 46: 10 cf. Exodus 14: 13 – 14), God promises that all will surely end in praises – “I will be exalted among the Nations, I will be exalted in the earth’’.

The world we live in is full of various and degrees of challenges at various stages of life. There are challenges we were born with, there are challenges we come across as we advance in age. At the beginning of this year 2020, there are some challenges we might have brought in to the year. Whatever degrees and stages of challenges we may be facing. The word of God is coming to you today that if you can trust everything into God’s hand, you shall laugh at last. My dear Brother, my dear Sister; you yourself can say like the Psalmist. God is our (my) Refuge and strength, a very present HELP in trouble. Therefore, will not we (I) fear, though the earth be removed……1-2). Know fully well that this God is with you. He has never failed, and never will He fail those who take their refuge in Him. Only in His hand, you are safe and secured!

  5. It is time Oh Lord to invade the territory and meeting places of all wicked people that are against the breakthrough of our nation with heavenly troop, let them tremble and their bones be rotten in time of their trouble as declares in Habakkuk 3: 16, in Jesus name.
