Today’s Reading:
1Corinthians 15:35 – 49
In the gospel according to John, chapter 3, Nicodemus came to Jesus at night, seeking the key to eternal life. Jesus told him that he must be born again. Not just to be born again, but to be born of water and the spirit. It was a marvel to Nicodemus because the statement sounded strange. In the scripture in 1st Corinthians 15 vs 35 - 49, Apostle Paul explains the statement of our Lord Jesus Christ in a different context. To be born again means dying to our old sinful nature and being born to a new and resurrected body.
We can draw a corollary from the statement of our Lord Jesus Christ to Nicodemus to the scripture in 1st Corinthians 15 vs 35 - 49. Just as a seed has to die before it can spring forth a new plant, we must kill and shed off the old man and his sinful lusts to put on the new man. We must pay careful attention to the works of the flesh that need to die so that a new man renewed in the spirit will emerge. How will this come about: Romans 3 vs 23 says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This means that we must put away every work of the flesh in our lives, especially as outlined in Galatians 5 vs 19 - 21. Every farmer knows that if you plant a defective seed, it may not give you the desired result. So it is with us. Christians who die still carrying loads of sin in them will not be resurrected in the new body. They will go the same way as other sinners because they are still carrying their sinful nature.
It is therefore incumbent on us to ensure that we are sin-free on the day of the transition and resurrection of our bodies which will happen either at the last trumpet or when we die. That is when corruption will put on in-corruption, and we assume the celestial bodies.
