RAISING A GODLY GENERATION

Today’s Reading:

Judges 2: 6 - 15

“And also, all that generation was gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them that did not know the Lord nor the works that He had done for Israel.” (v. 10)

The nation Israel was loyal to God through the leadership of Joshua. However, these all changed in the decades after the death of Joshua. The generation that did not know and serve God was an indication of the failure of the fathers to communicate the wonders, works and will of God to their children. When a particular generation fails in their responsibilities, it will become a marrow in the bones of the next generation thereby becoming a generational curse. For a culture to be preserved, the parents must teach their children the nitty-gritty of such culture else it will go into oblivion. For the next generation to be godly, the onus rests on the present generation.

The Bible did not put us in the dark on how to raise a godly generation. Fix these words of mine in your heart and mind, tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth (Deuteronomy 11:18 – 21).

The secrets to raising a godly generation lie in showing them the way of God. Once children are born again, then there is hope for the next generation. There is a need to be baptized in the Word of God so that the world will not capture them.

JAMES ALADE

Prayer:

  1. May you help this generation to teach the next one the way of God and let it continue in Jesus name.

  2. In any area my generation has missed it, oh Lord in your mercy restore us, in Jesus name.

  3. Every activity from the pit of hell catching the attention of this generation lose your grip in Jesus name.

  4. Whether this generation likes it or not they shall serve God in Jesus name.

  5. Altars of worldliness where this generation is serving you catch fire in Jesus name.
